Tesis de InvestigaciónClasificación: INV 2008 Resumen: This study investigated the improvement of Oral Interaction of three homogeneous groups of four students each, the lowest level of all "Basic User". They were selected as volunteers by being exposed to Cooperative Learning Structures. They were from I Baccalaureate of a large co-educational Licea Naval High School in Guayaquil. At the beginning, a pre-test was administered to know the English proficiency level and to form homogeneous groups. The exploratory case study carry out through action research was used to assess the effects of cooperative learning structures and homogeneous groups in students' oral interaction. After six weeks the post-test was applied to measure students' oral interaction progress. During the intervention students gradually showed that communication flowed through homogeneous groups and cooperative learning structures. They had more students-student interaction because they were interested in having communication so they were not afraid of making mistakes. At the end of the post-test their interaction level improved 25% for the majority of the students in each group. They could interact in a simple way; maintain conversation by exchanging very short social exchanges. There were some students' testimonies during the intervention that showed favorable reactions to the intervention.
