Memorias Barriales y Producción Socioespacial en los Barrios Populares de Guayaquil: Una Aproximación Visual a los Pobladores de Bastión Popular

Abstract

Popular neighborhoods are unplanned settlements where residents have built their own homes to live in. The present degree work was carried out in the city of Guayaquil, in the Bastión Popular neighborhood, its objective was to analyze the reconfiguration of neighborhood memory from the visual point of view in the inhabitants of Bastión Popular. In this study, a qualitative research approach was used, of which 5 interviews and 1 focus group were conducted. To obtain the sample, 5 photographs were selected that could be linked to the interviews carried out with the residents of the neighborhood, and therefore to the analytical categories designed in the processing of that information. The photographs were related to the second category, which is neighborhood socio-spatial production from historicity. In the descriptive analysis that was carried out on the photographs, it was observed that crime has greatly affected the neighborhood, the neighborhood found the solution by placing bars for security, the progress of the neighborhood is reflected in the reinforcement of the structures of its homes and the great change in its streets and environments. This visual projection will serve to understand the history behind a neighborhood in progress.
