Abstract: | This research focused on exploring the mental health of mothers who were pregnant and gave birth to their children during the context of the SARS-COV-2 pandemic. For this, the general objective was to determine the level of stress and postpartum depression in these mothers whose babies were between 5 and 10 months old, at the time of the study; therefore, it was also proposed to identify and describe the level of development reached by the baby in the different areas. This research has a quantitative, descriptive and transversal approach. The population was 2167 women, belonging to a banking entity at the national level, the sample was non-probabilistic for convenience, made up of 25 mothers. Two assessment scales were applied to measure mental health indicators in mothers and another to know the evolutionary development of their children, the instruments to measure stress and depression were Parenting Stress Index-Short Form (PSI-4), Scale Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Questionnaire by Cox, Holden, and Sagovsky (1987) and the Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQ-3) by Squires, Twombly, Bricker, and Lawanda, (2009). The results obtained revealed that the mothers did show symptoms of stress and depression, and two of the children presented lags in fine motor development, while most of the children were located at a level of development above the expectations expected for their age. Therefore, it was concluded that the COVID-19 pandemic influenced the mental health of mothers Keywords: MENTAL HEALTH- MOTHERS- PANDEMIC- GESTATION-POSTPARTUM-CHILD DEVELOPMENT |
