Estudio sobre los efectos de un programa digital infantil en niños y familias durante el confinamiento

Abstract

The following study was done to understand the socio-emotional impact in the family and the effects of the early childhood education programs PREMI and Mi Casita Grande (MCG) digital version; additionally, to find out what are the key factors that contribute to the family support during the lockdown due to COVID-19. For this study 20 families that attended the early childhood education programs PREMI and Mi Casita Grande (MCG) in the areas of Bastion Popular and Trinitaria were able to participate, the population was 395. It is shown that majority of families consisted of mothers, who were housewives, ages ranging 20-34 years old; 4 of these families don’t a father figure. In regards education, most parents only completed high school and 25% of the fathers were unemployed. Within respect to the financial means, 40% of these families have an income of less than $100, and half of the interviewed families are large families with more than 5 members. The research had a mixed approach, through MICS questionnaires and focus groups we deep dive into the family environment, and the feelings that families had when their routines were affected by the lockdown. The results highlighted: the father’s role, the feelings and emotions, the experiences, and effects of the program, amongst are: the children and the caregiver’s learning curve, it is also emphasized the students’ reactions when they saw their teachers. Based on these results, it is emphasized that PREMI and Mi Casita Grande (MCG) virtual programs are necessary to promote physical and mental health as well as a healthy and safe environment at home; where families and educators adopt the best measures to cope with any emotional burden, and a favorable atmosphere is created where children can play and interact in times of confinement.
