Abstract: The present study addresses the perception of teachers about online education during the COVID-19 health emergency, focused on educators of Initial and Middle level of a private school in the city of Samborondón - Ecuador. The main objective of this research is to explore the experience with online teaching from the perspective of educators. The research was based on the quantitative and qualitative methodology where the analysis is carried out by a questionnaire with a total of 69 items (65 multiple choice and 4 open questions); the data was collected on Google Form platform. During this research it was possible to verify more relevant ideas about the current education modality in which teachers were able to affirm that the online modality has allowed them to reinvent themselves and to be in a constant learning in the transmedia world, in order to create digital learning environments through various digital platforms. The participants affirm the importance of generating knowledge, due to the new modality that the pandemic left the roles between teacher and student changed, leaving the student to manage their own learning more independently where the teacher generates more hours of work to be able to provide content of interest and to encourage exploration in learning. In addition, motivation is essential in the online learning process to connect and create an effective learning environment and the exchange of ideas. Teachers' perception about the COVID-19 health emergency allows us to explore the importance of creating an environment and learning spaces, prioritizing skills and connecting with students through collaborative work and critical thinking; however, it is still to be addressed how teachers can create effective digital environments.
