Rutinas y enfoques informativos sobre temas vinculados a la niñez y adolescencia: análisis del tratamiento periodístico realizado por el medio digital GK sobre abuso sexual infantil

Abstract

The present research had a qualitative approach in which digital ethnography was used and its objective was to analyze the journalistic treatment that the Ecuadorian digital medium GK had on issues of sexual abuse against children and adolescents between 2018 and 2020. Likewise, the compilation of the purpose of the data was to identify the procedure that journalists had at the time of initiating their reporting and whether it was based on the relevant Human Rights approach for the age group. On the other hand, concepts of communicational theories that explain the routine of the news media were presented. For the collection of information, three investigative strategies were used: non-participant observation of seven journalistic pieces, interview with the authors and, with the purpose of triangulating the information, interview with a specialist. The results show that the editorial line of the GK medium provides parameters to its journalists so that the coverage is not based on telling how the abuse occurred, but also on denouncing the government's negligence in treating the victims. In addition, it was concluded that the guidelines and recommendations of UNICEF were respected to deal with issues of this nature. The investigation ends with recommendations for other media to know how to cover the stories dignifying the survivor and without falling into revictimization.
