Turismo comunitario: creación de caminos hacia el Buen Vivir. Estudio de caso: comunidad de Cotococha

Abstract

Community tourism at the global level is considered an activity aimed at the sustainable development of populations that possess valuable natural and cultural goods. One of the cases is the Ecuadorian Amazon, where there are several indigenous communities, which have made tourism their main tool of economic income. Such is the case of the community of Cotococha where they have been practicing this activity for years, being one of the pioneers in doing it. The purpose of this research is to explore through case study how community tourism has served as a contribution to the Good Living, from the speeches of the communers involved to tourism, as well as tourists and guides. Through a qualitative methodological approach, it was possible to discover the improvements that the community and its inhabitants have obtained both from growth in infrastructure, quality of life and preservation of their habitat and culture.
